HUMAN'S EYE

Introduction

The "Human's Eye" service appeared in the Internet on September 1st 1999, and it has existed since that moment giving the advise and assistance to the interested of the sight.
Below two versions of service's website are presented:

The service's structure

Service is devided into several thematic parts. Each of them contains much information in the form of articles.
These divisions of the service are as below:

• the anatomy of an eye - contains the information about eye's strusture, sight etc.
• defects - here you can find discription of many sight defects
• eye disorders - part containing the discription of the sight organ diseases
• at the optician's - part devoted to the glasses, contact lenses and sight examining
• at the surgeon's - everything about oculist interventions
• natural methods - natural methods of eyes curing, e.g. Bates' methods
• glossary - explanation of optical terms
• optical illusions - a number of illustrations showing how human's eye (brain) can be cheated
• pecularities - some interesting information concerning eyes
• humour - about eyes in funny manner
• forum - the readers are questioning directly on the website; everybody is able to answer them
• chat - virtual caf
• questionnaire - a place where the guests are asked for answering several questions in order to preparation the statistics
• links - some other websites in the Internet treating about eyes
• Info - the information about the creators of the service
• gallery - pictures and photos that regard to subject of the service
• addresses - data base containing the addresses of clinics, consulting rooms and firms, which are connected with ophthalmology etc.
• cooperation - a chance of cooperating during creation of the service
• FAQ - questions and answers that have been posted us within the forum

ACHIEVEMENTS

	Title of website of the day ( 14th May 2001) It was written as follow: "Have you ever, staring at a monitor, thought about its influence on your sight? oko.info.pl is a service which gathers the great amount of information about human's eye - its properties, anatomy, diseases, resistance from working conditions. We can find out here about the main sight disorders, their causes and methods of the correction. Owing to the included illustrations it's possible to examine superficially the condition of your sight by yourself. For those, who are not accustomed to some used words, it's prepared a glossary containing explanastions of some more difficult exptessions. Besides, it's worth looking into the "Optical illusions", where we find many interesting pictures showing imperfection of our sight."

Besides, service "Human's Eye" is a popular source of the information for students at schools and universities.

Popularity of the service

The average number of visitors of the service is ca. 1500 per day. Sometimes, however, the number of guests on our service exceeds daily 5000. We have also our loyal guests who visit the service regularly, many of them belongs to the registered.
Persons with sight problems looking for information about their disoders or diseases appear among the visitors. Apart from them, our serice is also visited by professionals: doctors, opticians, scientists, and medical firm representatives.
